Political Mandate, the public affairs team within the integrated PR and public affairs business Mandate Communications, has been appointed by Whitbread plc to deliver a public affairs campaign for the company’s Premier Inn hotel chain.
Political Mandate’s brief is to promote the use of quality budget hotels among civil servants and to drive sales among public sector audiences. The campaign will also entail promoting the use of quality budget hotels, rather than expensive second homes, to MPs, as well as some broader profile raising around Whitbread’s ongoing work in areas such as skills, training and tourism.
Tabitha Aldrich-Smith, communications director at Whitbread, comments: “Mandate demonstrated a great deal of enthusiasm and creativity against the brief we set, which made their appointment an easy choice. We have been very impressed with the team since we started working with them, and they are already delivering real outcomes for us.”
Newly appointed Political Mandate Managing Director Fiona Mason comments: “Whitbread has set us an interesting, and clearly very topical, brief. We think that at this time of squeezed public finances Whitbread’s cost-cutting message is a very compelling one, and we are confident we will deliver results that clearly benefit the bottom-line.”
