Andrew Lansley MP speaks at Mandate business breakfast

Mandate business breakfasts have always attracted a big following.  In the past we have heard from people as diverse as Business Minister Shriti Vadera, Kate Barker during review of land use planning for the Treasury, Cancer Tsar Mike Richards, Lord Coe during the bid for the 2012 Olympics and Conservative blogger Iain Dale.

It's perhaps a sign of how far the Conservatives have travelled that this morning a packed breakfast briefing saw Andrew Lansley MP, Conservative Health shadow, field questions from guests and outline his vision for health under a Conservative government.

The discussion was, of course, Chatham House, so we couldn't possibly report on what was said....

It's fair to say that Shadow speakers have always attracted interest, but comparing this morning's event to ones we held 12 months ago tells us more about the current political climate than Jeremy Vine's swingometer ever could.  Clearly, these days those charged with forward-thinking in organisations see these events as ‘must-dos', rather than ‘nice to haves'.
