Mandate picks up two PR Week awards

Our nomination for our work for the Rarer Cancers Forum in the Best Research Campaign category was a great accolade for the team that put together a campaign with real quality, depth and strength of the policy focus on the issue of rarer cancers treatment. So it was an immense privilege for Mike Birtwistle and myself to be able to go up onto the stage and go beyond the shortlist and collect the PR Week Award for Best Research Campaign 2009 for Mandate.

PR Week has published the shortlists for the 2009 PR Week awards - and the good news is that Mandate is shortlisted in two of the categories: research and public affairs. Both are for the work we've done with the Rarer Cancers Forum on the Taking Exception report, an audit of the policies and processes used by PCTs to determine exceptional funding requests.

The priorities of every local NHS organisation in England have been uncovered for the first time in a report published by us this week, giving a unique insight in to the Department of Health’s World Class Commissioning process. The report shows that major health issues are not being prioritised by all Primary Care Trusts (PCTs).

A very big night last night for Health Mandate, which swept the board at the Communiqué awards, the leading awards in the pharmaceutical communications sector and won 3 awards and 1 highly commended.

Health Mandate won awards for:

 

  • Best Patient or Professional Association Communication
  • Best Writing Excellence
  • Best Opinion Leader & Advocacy Development

 

The team also won Highly Commended in the category of Best UK Media Relations.

A big well done to everyone in the Health Mandate team.

Cancer Research UK Director appointed to Health Mandate practice

Our award winning practice, Health Mandate has appointed Richard Davidson as a director, from Cancer Research UK where he held the position of Director of Policy and Public Affairs.

With over ten years experience, Richard has held most senior position in voluntary sector public affairs, responsible for ground breaking campaigns such as the successful lobbying for the introduction of the ban on smoking in public places.
